Anonymous author; prefatory note signed Johann Ferdinand von Frydau (F.R.C.)

German manuscript on cabbalistic alchemy with four full-page watercolour symbolic figures; in his signed 1750 note Frydau declares that the author is unknown, that the manuscript is unique, and that he deposited 500 ducats against its ever being printed or copied, reserving it for the 'F.R.C.'. Unique manuscript: a handwritten codex held in the Wellcome Library's Western Manuscripts collection, so no second copy of this particular text-witness exists (and this owner's note itself asserts its uniqueness).
