Privacy Policy

Omega Emporium ("we," "us," or "the site") is a small, independently run digital book archive. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site or the Omega Emporium mobile app, why we collect it, and how it's handled.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password). You may optionally upload a profile picture, which we resize and store.

Membership & payments. If you subscribe to a paid membership tier, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number or other payment details — Stripe handles that directly, under its own privacy policy.

Content you create. If you use the forum, friends, or messaging features, we store what you post: forum topics and replies, friend requests, and the text of direct messages you send to other members. Direct messages are only visible to the sender and recipient (and to site administrators, as with any hosted service).

Usage information. To keep the "online now" indicator and download rate limits working, we record a rough last-active timestamp on your profile and a log of your download events (title and time). Standard web server logs (such as IP address and browser type) are also kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes.

How we use this information

We use the information above only to operate the site: to authenticate you, show your profile and activity to other members as intended (e.g. friends list, forum posts), enforce membership tier and download limits, and troubleshoot problems. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to run the site:

• Stripe – payment processing for paid memberships.
• Render – application hosting.
• Cloudflare R2 – storage for uploaded files and images.

Each of these providers processes data only as needed to provide their service to us, under their own privacy policies.

Cookies & local storage

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. A light/dark theme preference is stored locally in your browser (or app) and is never sent to our servers. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

The mobile app

The Omega Emporium Android app displays this website. It doesn't collect any information beyond what's described on this page, and doesn't request access to your contacts, location, camera, or other device data.

Your choices

You can update or remove your profile picture at any time from your Profile settings. To close your account or request deletion of your data, contact us using the details below and we'll take care of it.

Children's privacy

Omega Emporium is not directed at children, and some titles in the archive deal with mature historical/religious subject matter. The service is not intended for use by anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
